Onychomycosis, or toenail fungus, is one of the most common infections your feet can experience. As the infection spreads, you may notice inflammation, soreness and your toenail will thicken.
How can you tell that you suffer from toenail fungus?
Well, if you notice that your toenails become brittle or yellowish/whitish and smell funny, you have most probably developed toenail fungus. But, don’t worry! Toenail fungus can be treated with over-the-counter antifungals or you can always rely on home remedies. As a matter of fact, home remedies turn out in being extremely successfully, but only if you have patience.
To make it brief, I can tell you how my brother got rid of toenail fungus with vinegar and tea tree oil. The nail restored in almost 2-3 months, but he got rid of the bad toenail fungus smell in a few weeks.
How to use vinegar and tea tree oil to get rid of toenail fungus
- tea tree oil
- small basin
Wondering how to use this toenail fungus remedy? Well, let me tell you!
Since my brother tried everything he could to get rid of toenail fungus, he eventually wanted to try tea tree oil, so this is how he proceeded with this home remedy:
- First thing first: pour undiluted vinegar in a small basin (enough to cover your feet) and soak your feet for 30 minutes in this solution.
Next, you have to dry your feet very well using a clean cotton towel (which you have to use it only once) or let your feet dry naturally.
- The second step to take is to apply 1 drop of tea tree oil directly on the affected toenail. You can use a cotton bud to apply the oil or simply, just pour one drop and use your index finger to spread the oil all over the affected area.
Important! You have to be consistent and patience. The results will appear in a few weeks, but it will take about 4-5 months until you’ll get a brand new toenail.
Another important thing! Make sure you are not allergic to tea tree oil. Test it on a small portion of your skin before applying it on the affected area.
